The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is hosting a free youth pheasant hunt. This is a great opporunity for kids 17 and under to hone their hunting and shotgun skills. There will be stocked pheasants and a shotgun skills clinic where kids can shoot as many clay targets as they want. Shotguns, shotgun shells, clay pigeons, bird dogs with handlers, hats, and vest will be provided.

The hunt will be held in Prairie City on September 14th and 15th. There will be an orientation and safety briefing Saturday, Sept. 14th, 7:00am at the Prairie Wood Products Office ( 457 Front St., Prairie City,k Oregon 97869). And on Sunday for those not able to hunt on Saturday, there will be an orientation/safety briefing at 9:00 am at the Sporting Clay trailer. There will be maps provided, safety gear, and information on where to hunt. The Sporting Clay trailer will be set up behind the Co-Gen plant and start about 9:00am both days. Participants are required to possess a Hunter Education Certificate and valid youth hunting license with Upland Game Bird validation.
